Biography

Tomomi Kubo


Tomomi Kubo is a Ondes Martenot player, Improviser and composer,
based in Spain.

She has been involved in a wide variety of activities, such as collaborating
with Orchestra, Chamber music, contemporary dancers and theater companies, as well as the accompaniment to films and TV drama music. 

After graduating from Kunitachi College of Music in Japan, Tomomi Kubo went to France to study Ondes Martenot at Conservatoire France National Boulogne-Billancourt and graduated from the school with highest honors. She studied the instrument under Takashi Harada and Pascale Rousse-Lacordaire. 

She began her career as an Ondes Martenot player while she was still a student, performing in concerts as a member of the Ondes Martenot Quartet. After returning to Japan, she performed Ondes Martenot pieces at numerous concerts and took on commissioned works to expand the repertoire. Simultaneously, she participated in film and television drama soundtracks, working across genres from classical to pop.

Since moving to Spain in 2018, she has performed at Museu de la Música de Barcelona, Phonos (Pompeu Fabra University), Microconciertos de Caixaforum, Contemporary Music Festival of Navarra, TECSMUC 2024 (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya), MONOTON (Cuartel de Artillería,Murcia) etc. She performs at concerts and festivals throughout Spain, while also releasing albums with European musicians, including Ferran Besalduch, Camila Nebbia, Vasco Trilla, and Paul Pignon and more.
Her albums have been featured on BBC Radio, club de jazz de Carlos Pérez Cruz, and many other radio stations, as well as in numerous reviews.

Recently, she has expanded her activities beyond performing to include producing soundtracks for plays and documentary films, collaborating with dancers, and more.
She transcends musical genres, exploring music that only she can create. She is also actively involved in promoting the Ondes Martenot and passing it on to future.
